Immortality

I just watched the "making-of" 300 special (thank Tim for the telling me about it). They talk a lot about how the Spartans spent their whole life looking for something worth dying for, and it got me thinking. I wonder if the world was given a choice, would they trade not having anything death in return for not having any new life? Everything was just here, and you could live forever, as could everything else, but in return, nothing was ever born. That seems like it would be a pretty boring existence. Maybe that's why the creator made life the way it is - to have a more fulfilling and entertaining way to pass the time.

and yet everyone is clamoring to know the secrets of immortality.. spending millions of dollars on medical research.. we're not doing that bad.. any child born today is expected to live past 100, when 100 yrs ago a person should expect to die at 50... is this what you do the nights you don't go out to drink? ponder life's biggest mysteries?.. cutie
